And just like that, 2016-2017 has come to an end. What an amazing experience! I am extremely proud of the growth everyone made this year. Together we became problem solvers, critical thinking, producers, engineers, musicians, architects, and much more. It certainly was a wild ride and we learned so much from each other. It is important that we build on this momentum over the summer. Be sure you continue completing your reading logs this summer and earn wonderful prizes at the beginning of next year. It is also an even better to simply just let your mind wander and imagine as you read. You can also utilize strategies and tools to learn new words and increase your Lexile. This is also a time to continue your genius hour work, research, and ask great questions. Everywhere you look, there are challenging math problems that you can investigate. Try designing a scale model of your house on paper, or measuring the square footage of your house. Another idea is to talk your parents/guardians into building an at home garden by designing it on paper, making a price list of materials, and writing the steps. How much money do you think you spend in a week? Keep track and determine what type of career you will need in order to get all of your wants and needs. Better yet, stop by the EKD community garden and share an updated with me on a document and I'll share on our class Facebook page. If you want to share your writing you are welcome to share it with me and I will be happy to read it and provide you with some feedback. There are also a number of EKD Community events that you can join this summer (they are posted below).
While next year I am shifting gears from Grade 4 Magnet to teaching 4th and 5th Grade in a split classroom, I am ecstatic for what lies ahead for us all. I am excited to see former students move on, new students to enter our classroom, and us all to do great things. All students are welcome to attempt the challenges posted above. And stay tuned for more throughout the summer (here and on Facebook). If you are interested to see some of the ways and things we will next year, take a look at our Class Weebly Page. Feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or anything else you may need. Have a great summer everyone!!!
