Happy February everyone! We are doing some fantastically awesome things in 5th grade this year. I am very proud of the growth we have made so far. A few celebrations include an investigation of space exploration. The eclipse this summer was the perfect lead into learning about the moon and stars. After that we took a deep dive into the structure of Earth and the multiple spheres it encompasses. In math we have navigated through challenging multi-digit multiplication and division problems. Fraction computation has also been a close focus recently. All of this knowledge has been built on the understanding that our number system is based on specific place values. Next we will be exploring decimal computation and finding volume. This marking period our writing focus is informative/explanatory among the various writing prompts we will examine. Our next social studies focus will be the American Revolution and the cause/effect relationship of events that take place. Overall, our unit focus this marking period is the concept of Cause and Effect. This is a dynamic relationship that affects us in so many ways!
